One of our very first stops was to see the cathedral of Florence, the duomo. The outside was wonderfully ornate (complete with baby jesus pointing a judging fat finger down at you), but inside it is mostly wide open space. We had the pleasure of also climbing through original staircases to get a view from the top of the dome (466 steps), which overlooks the city. Beautiful :)
